Worthless crashes on opening.

Can not open pic or movie file?

Whether its video recorded from my iDevices or TV shows recorded with EyeTV, none play reliably with AirPlay in this version. Examples: #1 — in previous versions, AirPlay Mirroring was unnecessary, but in this version if Mirroring is off then only audio goes to the AppleTV. #2 — in this version, putting the display to sleep with an iPad cover stops the playing of video. Cmon Synology, please test the apps with AirPlay!

Why did u remove that function?

Awesome app. Just streamed 1080p mkv video from my synology to my iPad!

Was working fine before and a good app but this recent update breaks AirPlay. I have a support case open with synology who is responsive to mails but not the issue. After 2 weeks we are still in the support needs to replicate the issue phase. I just uploaded files and mailed them back suggesting they read these reviews.

Adding to the list of what doesn’t work in the recent versions of DS file: (1) AirPlay is still broken. (2) Printing a PDF file results in very wide white-space margins as if Synology decided to shrink any PDF the user decides to print. This print shrinkage is ONE LESS activity for which DS file is now useless. The fundamentals are still there: browsing volumes, shares and folders, moving files. Too bad some of the more valuable extra features are failing . . .

For some reason DS Photo opens this app now when trying to play video, but this app does not work. It wont even log in. Needs fixing..

Since update to version 5.8 DS File, running iOS 9.2.1 crashes with any action performed within app. Checking task history, copying a file, moving a file, navigating to different folder all causes the app to crash.

Not sure what happened to this feature but there is no way to save video directly to camera roll. I do lots of video editing using the iPhone. This is a crucial to have.

Video Playback Broken, worthless now to me.

I like the app and I love my synology NAS. The videos playback works properly, however, unlike photos it is not possible to save videos directly to ur iphone.

Very functional for my needs but is so slow. What happened guys? It used to be pretty quick.

After the previous 2 releases, and STILL not fixed in this release, selecting video files prompts you to download/archive/etc., no longer playing back the file. Even trying to view images results in this error, even though the image thumbnail displays fine, still. This has been broken for almost 2 months now, Synology. Fix it!!!

What happened to the permissions?? Everyone sees everyones files. Never mind that there are permissions set on the NAS this app doesnt care. You have access across the board.

When I attempt to upload photos from iOS albums to DiskStation via DS File over OpenVPN (all most current versions available for clients and DS410), DS File app crashes EVERY time.

No frills and just works.

Old versions used to natively play .avi .mpg .wmv on an IPhone-- this one broke that. Now the only videos that play natively in DS file are the ones built into IOS like .mp4

Took off one star because the sharing link uses my public IP rather than my ddns fqdn.
