I could never get it to connect to my NAS

Several issues with this app that make it almost worthless to me. First, in playing audio files, if playback is paused, the playback will not restart. Second issue, the audio player does not show the title of the file being played. This is just an idiotic oversight by the Synology team. Third issue is that although one is allowed to ‘Download’ files to what you believe is a local folder, access to this Download folder still requires you to connect to your NAS. So, this download feature is not an ‘offline’ solution as any intelligent person would expect. Synology loves to tout their ‘wonderful’ NAS features, but their execution of their supporting apps always fall short in meeting expectations.

This app hasn’t been updated for a year and they need to get it fixed. When you open a music file it is so inconsistent as it closes randomly and prevents you from playing the file with errors.

This app needs to be updated to allow faster uploads from iOS. The file uploads are extremely slow compared to using an Android device.

Desperately need dark mod, after the ds video down, I use this and VLC player watch series. Files is good but when you open it in dark, you tries to watch something before you sleep, you eyes blind immediately. NEED DARK MODE!!!!!!!

Not very thoughtfully designed. Frustrating to use and thumbnails frequently disappear without warning when you’re reviewing photos. Feels a bit like they hired the cheapest team they could find and haven’t invested any real time or money into making it a legitimate app.

I’m a land surveyor and am in the field a LOt, DS file let me quickly access my project folder and info I need handy in the field.

I’m able to move, rearrange, and look at files. The app performs this well.

I don’t know what’s up with this app. I just downloaded it. But it’s actually quicker for me to upload my files to OneDrive then move them locally to my NAS. Sloooow.

This app does everything I need it to do, except I would love to be able to share a photo or file from the app via native iOS share sheet, as opposed to downloading it to file or camera role and then sharing. As an example, I often want to share a photo via text. Today I have to save it, share it, and delete it.

FaceId, does synology even cares about their own apps? Shows alot when people do not want to use synology app….

the same account can successfully log in through the DS Finder app，but cannot login through the DS file app

DS file has become very slow now. It takes forever to open .mov files. They market synology drive app as new and improve, but as an administrator you cannot browse through the homes folder to see your users home folders.

When I go to select all on the filtered items, after pressing select all the filter is erased and select all is initialized on the folder prior to filtering

It needs to allows upload of multiple files or folder from the local iOS storage, 1 file at a me is very inefficient.

This app would be much better if it simply exposed its downloaded files to the native Files app. I need to get files there all the time because it’s easier to open files from the apps I use from there. If I download a bunch of files and I need them in the files app, I need to go through each one, by one by one, and export them from there. It’s annoying and not something you expect from any file manager app. The navigation is also painful. They could make it easier to expose downloaded files and the NAS files by adding a another tab. They have plenty of available tabs in the tab bar. Make good use of it.

App crashes when I look up file information (i)

App was somehow using over 80gb of space with only a single image downloaded, no way to clear cache, deleted and reinstalled and not only fixed the problem but now it logs into my NAS in a fraction of the time.

While trying to watch my personal videos I have recorded that I have uploaded to my drive I keep getting the “unable to play video” error. What’s the point of using this app if I can’t access my videos from my drive. Please fix this.

Maybe I’m using this app differently than the angry reviewer with the featured review on the App Store… but I mostly just want a simple and fast “file explorer” like interface for managing files in my Synology. The newer “Synology Drive” app has (for me) an unproductive modern design, reminding me of Good Drive. No thanks. I don’t need to be visually impressed. I just want a simple interface for copying/moving/deleting file, and this app excels at this!

Color me surprised but this works better than on Android. I like that after deleting a file or don’t just to the top of the folder but maintains scroll position, which is not the case in my Google phone. The app also loads images thumbnails faster and more reliably.

Please let’s take a moment and develop the dark mode option!

Opening the app is painfully slow as it takes almost a minute on my home Wi-Fi to login with the IP. Uploaded some files earlier today from the computer, but the app does not show them. Probably some sync errors which should not affect file browsing, but does. Really annoying to listen to an audiobook that was ripped since I’m not carrying a CD player like it’s 1992, but the app can’t find the files in the directory.

Been waiting for years for basic sharing capabilities that allow for documents to be shared into other iOS apps. Why constrain Copy and Move functions to the NAS solely? Should integrate into Apple’s already provided Share Sheet capabilities so files, photos and videos can be shared to other native and third party apps

Please fix this app. Unable to access my NAS on the app via Quick Connect. I get an error that the device isn’t connected. This is not the case since I can easily login on a browser. Please update or fix the app.

Would be great if they built in support for Shortcuts to do the “save to DS” share sheet action. With shortcuts I could easily create a workflow to a select videos and upload them to my NAS. It would be great if the “save to DS” action supported the ability to select multiple media files to be uploaded at the same time.

There is a bug in this app that makes photo backup unusable. Every time I try to select the “Photos only” option under Live Photo, it just keeps reverting to “Upload photo with video”. I don’t know who the Product Managers for this app are but they really need to do a better job.

Photo backup doesn’t run until you open the app, which makes it pretty useless. It is supposed to work in the background. Also I’m unable to change the Live Photo setting. It is stuck on uploading the video, which I don’t want.

Pls make file icon more illustrative , eg: if pdf file of a book, it should show a book cover instead of pdf icon for al files , so we look at file to find more easily like viewing in macbook for pdf files

I contacted Synology 11 months ago about a bug I encountered using DS file where saving photos to the camera roll lost exif metadata. They acknowledged the issue and promised to fix it. Finally after many months of waiting I can confirm that the bug was fixed! Thank you!

UI is old and hard to use

Somehow the app will decide when it’s “Done” even though there are quite obviously huge amounts of items it missed during its backup. There’s no way to force it to recheck the file list either. I see why Roku pulled the plug on DS Video now, it’s really Synology falling behind and leaving their other products and services out of date and buggy.

But don't gaslight people and say your app will open for out viewing pleasure various file types. The list of file types has continued to grow but you lost basic function. I used to be able to watch a season of videos without having to do anything. Not since the last update. With this version, one video will play normal, the next will be sound only, and eventually not even that. Please note, if I want to do work to load the next episode I can play each video with the VLC app. I could also open all the videos in a VLC playlist and not need to open each one individually but you broke that too. Can't get VLC to connect to the new NAS directly anymore, now it is only accessible to get a video on via your fairly frustrating Files app. We pay enough for the hardware, quit shirking your responsibilities with the apps or we'll all be jumping ship like rats from the titanic.

If u wanna move let's say 1000 files from external USB driver connected to ur NAS, DS File creates 1000 tasks which moves file simultaneously! which can lead to a NAS completely frozen for a very long time(depends on the average file size u moving, in my scenario average file size is 800M-1G and it freezes for almost 2 hours) at that time, everything is not responding, and the tasks is only 70% finished leaves 30% tasks undone.

Hello. I can only upload one file at a time with my files in iCloud. Is there a tip?

Works OK but lacks some basic features, e.g. when copying files if the same file name exists there’s no option to skip that file (only overwrite or rename). I hope this app continues to get support.

Started out as a good concept. Now even though the password, account, and quick connect ID are all correct it still will not open DS File. Customer service has not been much help in troubleshooting this. They need to go back to the drawing board.

We are in 2022… I just want to upload some files to the nas… and I have to do it one by one… Don’t they know it’s all about apps these days?! Once the cloud storage is more affordable and I would migrate my nas data to there or if this nas die and I won’t bother to replace it.

Photos uploaded have the wrong date and time. 12/31/1969 17:00:00. Just started last week or so. I made sure the problem wasn’t on my end. My photos on my phone are stamped correctly. Uploading from the apple files app.
